    Mission:

Educating and Empowering the Community for Greater Growth

OUR HISTORY

  • Established in 2003 as the First African Educational Center, Inc.

Created to be a supplemental organization to the historical First African Nursery School, to provide tutoring and afterschool assistance to young people in the area. The nursery school may be the oldest African-American nursery in Richmond, opened in 1956 and operated for more than 50 years.

In 2013, the organization changed the name to North Richmond Community Empowerment Center and extended its mission to use education in various forms to empower our community members of all ages.

2919 PROJECT

NRCEC is getting a new home! Starting June 1, 2014, we are renovating our new location at 2919 Griffin Avenue. We are seeking donations of cash, materials, and plenty of manpower to create this awesome Empowerment Center for the North Richmond community.
